it's incredible how boring all planetary surface pictures look (except earth)

@lain there's a reason for that

@lain all the anticipation to get there and you learn its just a cold rock like the other thousand of them laying around

@lain
several look like home sans cactus feels nice

still get so too overwhelmed of all the plants here sometimes

@ageha @lain american photos of mars look like iceland in a couple places

@sun @lain
really? at least pictures iceland also looks all greengreen and fuzzy

@ageha @lain volcanic area is apparently even actually used for nasa training

@sun @lain @ageha iirc Ellesmere Island is considered the most Mars-like place on Earth

@p @lain okay, I know Titan is a "moon" and not a "planet" and we don't have real pictures yet, but Titan is a very neat place in this here Solar System.

@lain @p muh nigga, it's right there vibin next to Saturn. You could buy a really good telescope off of amazog right now and look at it.

It's got all the cool stuff. Geological activity, clouds, lakes, rivers, rain (methane), instead of looking up to see a small boring moon you get to see a ringed big chungus.

@RedTechEngineer @lain We should be getting LIDAR images of Europa within the next few years, that'll be pretty cool.

@RedTechEngineer @lain For people that (for some reason) do not have a Plan 9 machine handy, P9P also comes with astro(1); apparently Saturn comes up over the horizon here in about 16 hours.

@p @lain I can't wait until im an old man and NASA sends a probe to sample the ocean under it's crust.
Especially if they find something alive in it.
