why is Linux so cringe? why can't I just type `flatfuck install comfyui` and it just installs it with all dependencies and everything, actually working and not constantly broken.
@kaia install Windows, noob /s
@kaia paru -S comfyui
@kaia that's the purpose of flatfuck
@kaia fwiw the closest thing is probably dnf groupinstall or rebasing to <desktop environment> on the immutable distros
@silhouette @kaia it's all about either your package manager already knowing what the dependencies are or you having to fill in the blanks really
although flatpak may just not have the dependencies
although flatpak may just not have the dependencies
@twinspin6 @kaia flatpak is a poor choice for system packages IMO
@kaia@brotka.st Tbf linux audio
@kaia skill issue
@matrixsasuke that does not install comfyui I think
@kaia oh wow i dont even know comfyui, you're more of a linux nerd than me
@kaia@brotka.st my Linux ist basically never broken
@kaia I feel like you’re being facetious, but srsly, I find this valid criticism
@orangelantern I don't mind this for anything else, but for AI stuff it's so bad. I have 200GB of torch packages, because every software wants a different version and keeps it themselves
@kaia @orangelantern this is 100% on the Python ecosystem and developers
@kaia almost makes me glad I didn’t even try it on my Linux install. I had a feeling it would be needlessly complicated.
@kaia i legit thought comfyui was like when others write $comfy_ui to refer to their DE of choice

@kaia You aren't aware of aliases in "nano ~/.bashrc" ?

Oops, I missread your post.
Anyway, what do you expect from distro that allow proprietary malware ?
As always try one of these:

I'm particularly fond of Trisquel.

@mangeurdenuage you still misread the post. comfy ui is a visual ai engine. using trisquel will not fix the installation issues
@kaia
>comfy ui is a visual ai engine
ooh, I though it was a made up package name.
>using trisquel will not fix the installation issues
Depends from where the source of the problem is.
That aside I just checked and it's not in Trisquel, maybe in hyperbola or parabola or guix.

@mangeurdenuage dunno what RMS's stance on LLMs is, but it's probably verboten, despite Comfy UI being GPL3

@kaia @mangeurdenuage fun fact: RMS used to work on AI for years back in the 70s.
@matthewcroughan didn't you have a flake for comfyui? can't find it
@matthewcroughan ah well ok i thought it's just a `nix run github:...` on any OS. thx
@matthewcroughan i currently don't have a system at hand that doesn't have nixos. we can think about defaults though
@kaia i thought this to be an easy solution to your problem. do you want to have a look?
